usb 2-1: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3 usb 2-1: New USB device found, idVendor=1058, idProduct=2626, bcdDevice=10.34 usb 2-1: new SuperSpeed Gen 1 USB device number 8 using xhci_hcd I looked at dmsg and got the below (focus on bold text, please.) Does my Passport have physical damage, or is there hope and I need to try and make the unlock method work? I have seen another group where you just have to install WD Passport utilities, but I was unable to get that to unlock the drive. I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytesĭevice Boot Start End Sectors Size Id Type Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes The light was flashing on the drive, and it does show up on fdisk command:ĭisk /dev/sdb: 1.84 TiB, 2000365289472 bytes, 3906963456 sectors I immediately had a problem upon plugging this in. I thought I had used this drive on my desktop which runs Cinnamon Mint. I plugged in a 2TB drive which I had copied some stuff from my Windows 11 Laptop.
